Best Ways to Support Local Businesses

April 7, 2020 by The Union on 8th 1 Comment

We love being an industrial urban wedding venue, and are so lucky to call the most beautiful town square in Texas home. With The Union nestled just a block from the Historic Courthouse, we enjoy being a part of this vibrant downtown area, as well as the Georgetown community. In times like these, it is so important to all come together and support one another.

We want to help do our part in supporting our favorite local businesses in town, as well as our Austin wedding industry community. Here is a list below of ways to support your favorite local businesses & wedding vendors or “friendors”.

WAYS TO SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES:

Buy Gift Cards or Shop Online
Most local businesses have been forced to close, but if they have an online shop or gift cards you can purchase, the added cash flow could help them stay afloat until life returns to normal. It also allows you a little “treat yourself” gift or an exciting purchase later on.

Order take out or Delivery
Most restaurants are still offering take out and delivery services and again, any income that can be earned during this time will help those restaurants continue to employ some of their staff, as well as remain open. We all have to eat, right? Maybe take one or two days out of the week and order from your favorite restaurant.

There are also a lot of amazing catering companies that are offering to-go meals & family meals.

Here are a few of our Georgetown favorites…

El Monumento – order online for curbside pickup or delivery, best margaritas in town
309 Coffee – order online for pickup
600 Degrees Marketplace – order online for curbside pickup or purchase gift card
Sweet Lemon Kitchen – order online for curbside pickup or delivery
Kork Wine Bar – call to order for take out, special discounts on wine bottles to-go
Nancy’s Sky Garden – order online for take out or delivery
Monument Cafe – order online for curbside pickup or delivery
Woops Bakery – order online or call for curbside pickup or delivery

Here are a few of our local catering favorites…
The Peached Tortilla – (Austin) order online for curbside pickup and family meal delivery
Catering with a Twist – (Round Rock) order heat + eat meals, fresh do it yourself or frozen meals, snacks & groceries online
Vanilla Orchid – order reheatable family meals, individual meals, beer and wine for curbside pickup or evening delivery
Chi’Lantro BBQ – (Austin) order online for curbside pickup or delivery or purchase gift card
PEJ Events – sister company PoK-e-Jo’s offering online orders for curbside pickup and delivery, all locations

Leave a kind review
If you have a favorite small business, restaurant, shop, or vendors you adored during wedding planning, go spread the love by writing them a sweet review. It sure will put a smile on their face during this difficult time and help their business in the future. Not costing you a dime to do, but shows your support in a time of need.

Sharing your favorite small, local businesses on your social media can go a long way, especially if these businesses are still offering some of their products or services right now. Those businesses will be so grateful to you for the added exposure and it could help bring them more business now and in the future.

If we all do our part to help our community and those small, local businesses we love so much, we will all be better off as our lives return to normal. We all want to see these businesses continue to thrive and help better our city!

Stay positive! We will all get through this. Wishing you all the best!
